Since a child I've been exploring many traditional mediums such as watercolor, gouache and pencil - but for the past 10 years my favorite medium has been oil paint.
When I was younger I painted hyper-realistic portraits and focused all my time on tiny details and making my paintings look exactly like my references.
Today, I navigate between realism and abstract in my work. Instead of painting exactly what I see, I like to enhance my colors and find contrast between cold and warm hues. I find interest in playing around with exaggerated and brave hues when painting skin, and always try to see it as transparency and reflections instead of light and shadow.
I like to make sure that all the brushstrokes I put down on my canvas have a purpose. Less brushstrokes, more precise.
As a professional graphic designer and illustrator, I also find inspiration for color palettes and compositions from my experience within design.
